Hertford Town Council is delighted to announce that through fundraising and other
donations made during Mrs Susan Barber’s term as Mayor of Hertford, a sum of
£14,126.30 has been raised for her chosen charities.

The year was full of community events showcasing the wonderful town of Hertford. The Mayor’s Quiz, Board Game Night, Talks from Local residents, and a Civic Dinner to name a few.

Throughout the year The Mayor wanted to include as many local businesses, organisations and people as much as possible. It was important to her to connect Hertford together, especially after the years we had to be distant.

The Mayor of Hertford, Susan Barber said: “I have had an amazing year as Mayor of our County Town of Hertford and I am delighted to be able to present to my two chosen charities HDOS & Future Hope substantial cheques to each of them for them to be able to put to good use.

Representing HDOS were several members, President Lynne Warrilow, Mary Jane Tomlin, Kate Ayres, Pat & Graham Lay, Jim & Julie Markey & Liane Burnett. Dave Hollis, Project Manager at Future Hope, was there to accept the cheque at Hertford Castle. He said this was a fantastic amount that the charity has received. Both charities are close to my heart and are based in Hertford and I hope that they will be able to continue to carry on their good work helping others in the community.

I have been so lucky that the residents of Hertford have wholeheartedly supported me in attending all the events that I have hosted throughout the year raising this fantastic amount of money. I cannot thank them enough”

FutureHope said: "A huge thank you to Mayor Barber and her team for the tireless work they have put in to fund-raising for FUTUREhope Hertford & Ware during our year as one of her charities. We are thrilled by the amount raised and will ensure it is put to good use supporting and empowering young people in Hertford and Ware to give them hope for the future."

The money that she has raised for us is very much appreciated and will be used to further the society’s work within our community. I would also like to thank her for her attendance at our events and for inviting us to participate in hers. We have enjoyed working with her this year and wish her well for the future.”
