The first Hertford Online Volunteer Fair will take place on Saturday 13th February via Zoom, from 11am to 12pm. Organised by the Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre, which is run by Hertford Town Council, the Fair will host a number of local organisations seeking volunteers.

The Volunteer Fair has been organised to raise awareness of the importance of this crucial sector, to explain the rewards of being a volunteer, and to offer volunteering opportunities with local organisations. Those taking part in the Fair are Age UK, Hertfordshire Mind Network, The Samaritans, Hertford Disability Support Group, Red Kite, Co-op Member Pioneers and Carers in Hertfordshire.

People seeking to do something new in 2021, meet new people, learn new skills, or simply putting existing skills to good use, are invited to attend and discover that helping people has its own rewards. To register for a place, please email tic@hertford.gov.uk and you will be sent joining details.

Each organisation will give a short presentation about themselves, the work they do in the community, the role volunteers play and what opportunities are available. After each presentation there will be some time for questions from the audience.

Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Bob Deering, said: “There are many exceptional people in Hertford, and this past year has demonstrated more than ever before the vital role volunteers play in our local community.  The organisations taking part in the Volunteer Fair are all crucial in different ways, and I hope that everyone who might be able to contribute their time and skills to supporting them will attend the Fair to learn more.”

If any voluntary organisations wish to register their interest for future events, please contact Jenny Bullen on jenny.bullen@hertford.gov.uk or call 01992 584322.
