The Old Cross Tavern

We’re a town centre Community Real Ale Free House pub. Created out of a former antiques shop front, The Old Cross Tavern opened in May 1999 with a desire to maintain the classic traditions of British pubs both in atmosphere and serving cask ales in top condition.

The interior has two open fireplaces and a covered courtyard.  

The heartbeat of the Tavern is the people who come to the pub and locals making it a friendly, stimulating and welcoming place to socialise and relax.

There are Belgian and German Lagers on draught.  On tap is an ever-changing selection of Craft Keg beers from the United Kingdom and other European countries.  If you delve into our fridge of bottled beers, there are options from Belgian, Estonian, German and British brewers.  They include classics from Belgium, Trappist, Triples, IPA, APA, stouts, porters, honey beer, fruit beers, sours, gueuze, non-alcoholic and gluten free choices.  We really appreciate experimenting and try lots of different beers, so there are frequent new additions.

We’re currently open weekdays Monday to Thursday from 4:30 pm to 11:00 pm.  Fridays we’re open from 4:00 pm to midnight and Saturdays from 2:00 pm to midnight.  On Sundays, from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  There is no requirement for bookings or reservations.
