Bringing a slice of luxurious East London cool to Hertford, cutting edge chef Carl Clarke has joined forces with iconic Hertford House to re-launch the venue with a confident and slick new look. Serving an enticing selection of great quality, British produce is at the heart of the new menu, installing a Japanese Robata grill (charcoal grill lending a smoky element to food) ensures the best flavoured rare-breed Flat Iron and 35 day aged Rib Eye steaks, Cornish day-boat fish (literally pulled from the sea hours before), in-house BBQ hickory smoked chicken and Saddleback baby ribs.
Set in a stunning 19th Century Grade 2 listed building, Hertford House has long been at the buzzing heart of Hertford town. Owned by the Shipton family for nearly two decades, the venue has been re-launched as a two floor consolidated diner and decadent cocktail bar with a neon lit late-night lounge incorporating the famed Elberts bar into the new site. The project is being overseen by top London chef, Carl Clarke, bringing it more in line with the hottest eateries and cocktail bars of East London.
Alongside a sexy new cocktail list a selection of ‘top notch’ burgers, pulled pork buns, buttermilk fried chicken rolls and crackled fish and spicy crab tacos will satisfy all appetites whilst lighter dishes include fresh house smoked chicken, charred butternut squash and hot smoked salmon salads. Desserts won’t disappoint with an Oreo Cheesecake, Salted Milk Chocolate Pudding Cup or ‘Sorbitum’ Choc Ices in Sour Cherry or Bourbon Caramel flavours.
The weekend brunch menu showcases HH spicy breakfast tacos, buttermilk pancake stacks and smoked duck hash, alongside a DIY Bloody Mary bar, Allpress Coffee or Yum Cha tea, all cobwebs will be ousted at the door.
The ‘Awesome’ new cocktail list includes innovative Sours, Jammin’ Mojitos made with local ‘All That Jam’ to smoked Jalapeno Pickle Backs and Wild Hibiscus Champagne Fizzes. Whether customers fancy a lunchtime Prosecco, quiet afternoon pint catching the latest sporting event or after-work cocktail, the bartenders will have their shakers at the ready and primed to recommend the perfect drink for any occasion.
