B.Green Store
Opened by neighbours Carly Irving & Victoria Hellum, B.Green is a village store, coffee shop & community hub.
B.Green Store in detail…
The shop offers zero waste, unpackaged dry goods and household refillables and it aims to reduce food miles and minimise waste and single use plastic by offering items without packaging where possible
Co owner Victoria said: “The B. Green mission is to be a warm and welcoming space in the centre of our village, providing a community hub where residents can purchase everyday items, and also meet to enjoy each other’s company over a coffee & tea, a slice of homemade cake & simple home cooked food.
“In a world where our lives are increasingly frenetic and the media are reporting that more and more people of all age groups suffer from loneliness, the shop has become a place for people of all ages to enjoy to say hello and ask someone how they are, with the time to listen and engage over a hot drink in a neutral, friendly space.”
Alongside fresh fruit & vegetables and everyday essentials in the `Neighbours Pantry,’ B Green stocks a selection of unpackaged dry goods, cereal, pasta, nuts, herbs & spices.
There are also household products such as hand wash, laundry and washing up liquid in thezero waste area where you can bring your empties and refill them - helping to reduce packaging waste and cut down on single use plastics.
Carly and Victoria hope the shop will become a hub for organised activities – they’ve already teamed up with Active East Herts to offer health walks, photography walks, walking football and bicycle maintenance.
They’ll also be organising book swaps, craft & book groups and plant & food swaps aimed at bringing the community together.
Carly said: “We’re starting out on a journey to embrace a more sustainable and conscious lifestyle and hope our local community will join in and grow with us.”
