The Mayor of Hertford’s ‘Mystery at the Castle’

On 14th March, Hertford Castle became ‘Healing Manor’, the scene of a Murder Mystery investigation.

The Mayor of Hertford, Councillor Rachel Carter, welcomed guests, including dignitaries from other local towns, to meet the suspects and help uncover the clues in order to detect who committed the ‘crime’ - for the last fund-raising event of the municipal year.

Throughout the evening, guests were treated to performances from the ‘murder suspects’ along with an opportunity to interrogate further and look for the clues hidden around the Castle. The fantastic performances meant that although the ‘murderer’ managed to evade discovery right up until the end of the night when the Detective finally arrived, lots of fun was had by all who attended.

A great time was had by guests and performers alike, with all monies raised going to the Mayor’s chosen charities East Herts Citizens Advice and Hertford & District Girl Guides.

Special thanks go to the performers who together made the evening such a success. Thank you to local actors from the Company of Players and Astra Aquarii Productions, as well as our very own Hertford Town Council Officers (who stepped into character for one night only) for playing their roles so outstandingly.

The Mayor of Hertford, Councillor Rachel Carter commented: “This was a wonderful evening raising funds for Hertford and District Girl Guides and East Herts Citizens Advice. Huge thanks are due to the cast of talented Hertford actors and dedicated Town Council staff who worked so hard to transform the Castle into the scene of a Murder Mystery and make the event such a success.”
