Further Information…
French composer, organist and pianist Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924), was one of the foremost composers and musicians of his generation. To mark the centenary of his death in this season of Remembrance, members of Schola Cantorum perform his glorious setting of the Requiem Mass. Fauré wrote of the work, 'Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.'
