Further Information…
Tchaikovsky himself said of the symphony: ‘the best, and in particular the most sincere of all my creations’ and with his death just days after the symphony's premier, this legendary piece is often now thought of as Tchaikovsky's swan song. Under the baton of their inspirational music director Jonathan Mann, HSO promises to take its audience on an emotional journey of romance, tragedy and drama!
The concert opens with the dark and dramatic Tragic Overture by Brahms after which HSO is delighted to be welcoming internationally acclaimed violinist Charlie Lovell-Jones to perform Mendelssohn’s deeply romantic Violin Concerto. Charlie made his debut at a sold-out Royal Festival Hall, aged fifteen, and is now recognised as one of the most promising international soloists of his generation. Charlie has appeared as soloist with orchestras across the UK and beyond, including the English Chamber Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Noord Nederlands Orkest and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
