'Beating the Bounds'
The Mayor of Hertford, Councillor Rachel Carter and Consort Jon Banks, will be walking the Boundary of Hertford Town.
Further Information…
'Beating the Bounds' is an ancient custom, dating from Anglo-Saxon times, which traditionally involved hitting local landmarks with tree branches to establish and maintain a shared mental map of the parish boundaries.
In 2024 The Mayor wishes to celebrate Hertford through the Boundary walk and hopes to meet locals along the way.
