Launching the 2023 Hertford Calendar

During the summer the public submitted their photographs of Hertford in a competition to be included in the calendar.

Over 80 people entered a total of more than 200 images for the competition.The judging panel made up of the Mayor of Hertford Cllr Sue Barber, the Chairman of Hertford Town Council’s Development and Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, and Hertford based designer and photographer Paul Crowley, had the difficult task of selecting photographs for the cover and each month.

Paul Crowley also lent his expertise in the editing of the images of the calendar ensuring the colour vibrancy was enhanced and modernising the look and feel of it.

A private launch event took place at Hertford Castle on Sunday 30th October where the lucky winners were awarded a copy of the calendar and a certificate signed and presented by the Mayor.

The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Sue Barber said:

“Firstly, may I say thank you to all the people who have entered the Hertford Calendar competition for 2023.The calibre of photographs were amazing, and it was a very difficult decision for the judges to make. There were so many wonderful photographs of our lovely historical town in all its glory throughout the year. We have tried to portray our town with a vision of showing our town in all the seasons of the year and hope that you will enjoy turning over each page every month.

“This year we have added a Mayor’s Choice of 3 photographs. These were added as we felt that they justified a position in this year’s calendar for their originality. Many Congratulations to the 16 successful contributors.”

The Official Hertford 2023 Calendar is available to buy at the Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre for £10 each or two for £18. The calendar can also be purchased via the Hertford Town Council online shop at https://www.hertfordtownshop.co.uk/
