Hertford Retailers urged to get in the Festive Spirit

To get Hertford into the festive mood, retailers are invited to enter the Winning Windows Competition in time for the Christmas Gala light switch on that takes place on 28th November in town.
Hertford is famed for being the County Town of Hertfordshire and for the lead up to Christmas, shop owners are encouraged to make this a Christmas to remember by decorating their shop fronts with ‘Festive Spirit’.
The initiative is set out to raise the profile of the retailers that take part, to help promote their premises and also to celebrate Christmas in Hertford!
The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Chantal Geall, has the tough task of deciding the top three best dressed windows and will announce her chosen top three entries at the Christmas Gala in town.
The top three prizes consist of: a £60 photograph session voucher kindly donated by Photography by Louise, Theatre tickets to the Christmas Pantomime donated by Hertford Theatre and a Luxury Soap Hamper provided by The Luxury Soap Shop. Hertford Town Council would like to take this opportunity to thank the three associate sponsors of the competition.
In order to enter, the retailer must register at Hertford Town & Tourist Information Centre to inform the council that they are taking part. To do this the retailer can email email@example.com with their shop name, address, telephone number, email and contact name. Alternatively, they can call 01992 584322 or enquire within the Town and Tourist Information Centre.
The deadline for entering the competition is Wednesday 19th November as judging will take place on Saturday 22nd November.
Cllr Isabel Sigmac said: ‘The town is full of independent retailers who tend to go all out to compete in the annual Winning Windows competition. I love walking around all the shops seeing how much creativity and effort has been put into the shop windows. The window displays really add the magic of Christmas to the high street. I encourage retailers to take part in this competition and look forward to see what contestants come up with this year.’
