The success of our first Hertford Family Pride Day

Hertford Town Council held it’s first Hertford Family Pride event on 12th May.

The event was a resounding success and we are so delighted that over 2500 people could join us to celebrate in the glorious sunshine together.

Our host Jaxon Feeley, and all other invited guests, were so well received - encouraging all to live their own truth under the theme of the event “Be kind. Be yourself. All are welcome”.

The free event welcomed an audience from all walks of life including families with their children and young people.

Councillor Alex Daar, Deputy Mayor of Hertford commented: “It was a wonderful day of celebration and it was so good to see so many young people enjoying themselves. We were proud to provide a safe space for all to feel welcome. Our Kindness Wall and the Conversation area were particularly popular with useful information, support and an opportunity for all to share and have a voice.”

People who attended the event said:

• “Absolutely loved it! It was so beautiful to walk around and know that I was in a safe and inclusive space. Just wonderful.”

• “Excellent, fun and inclusive event. Well done Hertford.”

• “We really enjoyed Hertford’s first family pride day. Well done.”

• “My event of the year!! Let’s take joy in being ourselves, whoever and however that is! So glad my council is doing this.”

The event raised over £300.00 for the Mayor’s charities, Mudlarks and Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust - thank you to everyone for their generosity. It was our privilege to bring the local community together, in a safe and welcoming environment; to celebrate inclusion and diversity in Hertford.
