Hertford Town Council has extended its provision of free Wi-Fi across Hertford town centre for visitors, residents and businesses to use, with the service launching this Saturday 17th March.
Up to now, free Wi-Fi has been available in the areas of Railway Street, Market Street, Salisbury Square, Market Place, Bull Plain and Maidenhead Street. The service has proved popular, with an average of over 4,000 users logging online each month.
Due to this popularity, the Wi-Fi reach has been expanded to cover most of the town centre. New coverage areas are Fore Street, Railway Street, Parliament Square, The Wash, St Andrew Street, Warren Place and Old Cross.
Users can access the Free Wi-Fi by searching for _HertfordFreeWifi in their WiFi settings - there is no need to sign up to access the free service.
Cllr Jane Sartin, Chairman of the Development and Leisure Committee at Hertford Town Council, said: “Following the success of the initial area covered by free Wi-Fi in Hertford, I am pleased that Hertford Town Council has been able to make the investment to expand the service across the town centre. Access to free WiFi is increasingly part of everyday life, helping people use mobile devices wherever they are more easily. This expansion is part of Hertford Town Council’s ongoing commitment to support our local shops and the business community.”
