Website Relaunch to Support Hertford Town Centre

Hertford Town Council has invested in redeveloping the Hertford Town Centre website, www.GoHertford.co.uk

The website was created several years ago to provide local residents and visitors to the town with information on Hertford’s retail offer, food and restaurants, accommodation, events and attractions, travel links and walks, history and heritage trail and local news within the county town.

Over the last year the website has been accessed by over 150,000 users, and the monthly figures have drastically increased since free WiFi was installed by the Town Council in the town centre, which can be accessed by searching for the _HertfordFreeWifi network.

The website is a popular portal for visitors to discover the array of independent retailers located in the town centre, many who specialise in specific trades including antiques, floristry, home & interiors, health and wellbeing, handmade jewellery and photography. In addition to the independent retailers, Hertford is home to some of the nation’s favourite national retailers.

The town has 277 retail units of which only 4% are currently vacant. The level of vacant units in Hertford is well below the national average of 10.4%.*

In addition to the website shopping directory, the GoHertford.co.uk website details all local upcoming events, many of which are free to attend. The next free of charge event to take place is the Hertford Castle Teddy Bears’ Picnic event which takes place on Sunday 21st July from 12noon – 4pm, further details listed online.

The site is updated daily and provides local Hertford news and information including the Love Hertford Award Winners from 2019.

Chairman of Hertford Town Council’s Development and Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: “The GoHertford website is packed with information on Hertford town centre. Its redevelopment has given it a fresh new look, and I’d encourage everyone to take a look to remind themselves of what’s available in Hertford, and to see what’s happening locally. We can sometimes forget what’s on our doorstep, and there are a wealth of businesses in the town, providing a wide range of goods, services and leisure activities.”

*Note that the vacancy figures do not include the Bircherley Green site as this is under development and the units are unavailable.

It is free of Hertford businesses and retailers to be listed on the website, contact the Town Centre Coordinator ausra@hertford.gov.uk

It is free for Hertford events to get added to the website, contact Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre tic@hertford.gov.uk
