Andrei Lussmann is delighted to announce that Lussmanns have been awarded the prestigious Menu of the Year at the UK’s Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) annual Sustainable Seafood Forum and Awards.

The news comes shortly after becoming the only restaurant group in the UK to have a fully MSC credited menu.  The award recognises restaurant menus that have created new and exciting sustainable seafood offerings to UK diners while helping to advance consumer awareness about the MSC.  Lussmanns was given a special mention in the category for featuring six MSC certified dishes, working closely with their supplier Stickleback Fish Company, the menu features the first MSC monkfish and ling available in the foodservice sector.  Other dishes available include MSC certified plaice, cod cheeks and hake.

 Andrei Lussmann, Managing Director and founder of Lussmanns Sustainable Fish & Grill Restaurants Ltd, said: “The ecology of our oceans and security in what we eat is more important now than ever. We need seas that are without plastic and oceans that are full of fish.

 “It’s clear we won’t have enough fish in the sea unless we buy from fisheries that have been been certified with the MSC blue tick. Lussmanns endorses this science driven label as the only credible path to a truly sustainable future.”

 Loren Hiller, Marine Stewardship Council Commercial Officer, continues: Lussmanns decision to serve a 100% MSC-certified seafood demonstrates the importance of sustainable and traceable seafood to restaurant consumers, and that sustainability is achievable even on the high street.

 “Their original aim, to make sustainable dining accessible to all, hasn’t changed. They’re ensuring everybody can play a part in securing a healthy future for our oceans and are an example to others in the sector by adding the Blue Fish to their menu.”
