Hug Hertford Theatre

Hug Hertford Theatre is reaching out to local community asking for a hug!

Everyone needs a hug from time to time, and there's never been a more important time to come together as a community to support one another.
Hertford Theatre misses its customers and they know the local community miss their theatre too, so to continue reaching out whilst they are empty, Hertford Theatre started #HugHertfordTheatre, asking for “hugs” so they can fill their windows with pictures of their lovely audiences, supporters and hirers.
The theatre has requested colourful drawings, pictures/photos of families, friends and audiences at Hertford Theatre or drawings and photos of a favourite show, a happy memory or a film or class they have attended.
The response has been wonderful with over 100 pieces of artwork (so far!) being sent to the theatre, either by post, via email or handed in directly, whilst obeying social distancing rules.
Even cast members from previous pantos have got involved putting together a video promoting the campaign, which can be seen via the theatre’s Facebook page.
They’ve even had people make bunting to hang up, write stories and poems about their memories of the theatre and children drawing themselves performing on stage.
Rhys Thomas, Director of Hertford Theatre said “we are delighted that our community have been so supportive and creative and we are genuinely touched with the reaction, thank you Hertford!”
The theatre’s aim is to get enough creative work and photos to wrap around the entire theatre, with 51 metres of window to fill- that’s a lot of hugs!

Want to get involved? Here’s how:
