Holiday activities in Hertford this half-term
There's lot going on this half-term to keep young people entertained.
If you're looking for activities for youngsters this half-term, there is lots to choose from in Hertford.
Hertford Museum is hosting family Prehistoric Art fun activities today (Tuesday 27th May) and on Thursday (29th May). There is no need to book, just drop in. The cost is £4 per child.
Meanwhile, from Wednesday (28th May) until Friday (30th May) BEAM is holding a range of activities for young ones. Budding actors can join a drama day masterclass, create their own sandy art masterpiece or take part in creative crafts. Fees apply.
On Wednesday, BEAM's Drama Day: Skills for an Actor masterclass takes place. It will be run by a local theatre director teaming up with a home-grown actor and drama school audition coach, Libbi Fox, who has trained at both LAMDA and Mountview. Those taking part will explore core performance skills through playful, high-energy sessions that build confidence, creativity, and character. Perfect for anyone curious about what it’s like to train as an actor. No singing, no dancing, just acting.
Then on Thursday, BEAM hosts Sandy Art, an engaging, hands-on, and creative activity where little artists can create their very own sand art masterpieces! With a mix of sensory fun and therapeutic benefits, this activity helps boost imagination, fine motor skills, self-expression, and confidence – all while having a fantastic time! Sandy Art has been established since 2012 in Hertfordshire providing an encouraging and creative activity for children at parties and events. This is a drop in session, from 3pm-5pm. An accompanying adult needs to remain in BEAM while the children are in this workshop. The Kitchen Bar will be open. Adults may join the workshop, but only tickets for children are necessary.
On Friday, BEAM invites you to join them for some oink-tastic piggy crafts. Make a family of pigs, with their own car and house. You can make yourself some piggy ears and a nose to wear too! Participants will also be making puppets of a family of pink pigs, who can sit in their car and drive to their house. Their house will be a concertina book that you can decorate and furnish however you like. You can also make some muddy puddle pictures! Children should be supervised by an adult at this workshop - one additional accompanying adult may join without a ticket.
On Wednesday (28th May) and Thursday (29th May). the East Herts Community Safety Partnership is hosting sport and fitness activities for 11 - 19 year-olds at Hartham Common. The activities are free and there is no need to book. Just turn up between 5pm and 7:30pm. These activities have been made possible thanks to Hertford Town Council, Sovereign Network Group, Sporting Inspirations CIC, HCC Services for Young People, and East Herts Council.
