The Winning Windows Competition has now opened, and all of Hertford’s traders are invited to enter. The theme this year is ‘Winter Wonderland’. It is hoped the competition will bring Christmas cheer to the town centre, and encourage the community to support the local traders at this important time of year.
The competition is organised by Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre on behalf of Hertford Town Council. The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Bob Deering, will have the unenviable task of choosing the three best dressed windows and will announce the winners the week ending 7th December, by the time the second lockdown has finished and the holiday shopping season begins in earnest.
The three prizes are:
- Pair of Hertford Theatre Cinema Tickets
- A hamper from Hertford Town & Tourist Information Centre
- A bottle of Champagne and a box of chocolates
To enter, retailers should email The Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre, 10-12 The Wash, SG14 1PX) on tic@hertford.gov.uk and supply the business name, address, phone number, email address and contact name.
The deadline for entering the competition and completing the window displays is Wednesday 25th November as judging will take place shortly after this date in time for the announcement of the winners at the Christmas Gala Night.
The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Bob Deering, said:
“The annual Winning Windows competition offers the traders of Hertford a great way to get into the festive spirit and bring much needed cheer to the community. We’ve had some fantastic entries over the years and I’m sure we will see many more this year. I’m expecting that choosing a winner will, as always, be very difficult!”
