Hertford Castle The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Join Hertford Town Council in celebrating Her Majesty’s historic reign, a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service, at Hertford Castle on Thursday 2nd June 2022.

From 12pm-4pm, the Town Council will be running a FREE family fun day at Hertford Castle. There will be a host of activities for all to enjoy, including a Castle Open Day, traditional summer fete, games and activities, food and drink, music and much more.

We are also delighted to announce the involvement of many local charities, clubs and schools who will be joining in the celebrations by hosting activity stalls on the Castle Lawn whilst fundraising for their group.

In the evening, our celebrations continue with the Hertford Castle Beacon Lighting – used to mark Royal occasions. More than 2,000 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries, in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service.

The ceremony will be accompanied by an address from the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Mr Robert Voss CBE CStJ, and the Mayor of Hertford, a visual display of images on the Castle of Her Majesty and a bugle call to fanfare the lighting of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon.

Join us for the evening event, from 8.45pm until 10pm to mark this momentous occasion and pay tribute to The Queen with your local community, as part of the official Platinum Jubilee Weekend of celebrations.

Chairman of Hertford Town Council’s Development and Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: “Hertford Town Council has hosted celebrations for many major historic occasions at Hertford Castle, and I am delighted that we are once again bringing the local community together to mark HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.  I am sure that it will be an enjoyable day, and also one that everyone who attends will remember as part of the national celebrations.”
