Starting 24 February for 6 weeks, 10:00 – 11:00:
Each week we will begin with a slide presentation looking at how the theme has been used by well known artists in their work. We will follow with a demonstration and discussion on using materials, and then the last part of the session will be a guided drawing exercise.
The course is intended to act as a grounding in the formal elements of art, and an introduction to basic drawing skills which students can then practice independently – such as adding tone (shading) to a line drawing to create three dimensional form. At the end of each session we will look at the drawings with feedback provided.
Experience - All levels but particularly suitable for beginners
Requirements - Students will need some basic drawing materials: a selection of pencils, pens (biros, felt pens, etc), an eraser, willow charcoal and paper.
Tutor - Julie Arnall
