Hertford Volunteer Fair

NEWS RELEASE 9th January 2019 Hertford Volunteer Fair

The first Hertford Volunteer Fair will take place on Saturday 26th January at the Mill Bridge Rooms between 10am and 4pm. Organised by the Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre, which is run by Hertford Town Council, and in partnership with Team Herts, the Fair will host up to 15 local organisations seeking volunteers, including Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, CHIPS, Hertfordshire Fostering Service, Guideposts, Isabel Hospice, Mudlarks, and Mind in Mid Herts.
The Volunteer Fair has been organised to raise awareness of the importance of this crucial sector, to explain the rewards of being a volunteer, and to offer volunteering opportunities with local organisations. Those seeking to do something new in 2019, to meet new people, to learn new skills, or simply to put existing skills to good use, are invited to attend and discover that helping people has its own rewards.
Guest speaker, Kat Sheperdson, Project Manager at Team Herts, will be giving a talk about the substantial value to the economy of the volunteering sector, and the enormous benefits to individuals considering volunteering as a vocation. The organisations attending the event will be on hand to provide information, to give advice and to encourage applications.
Chairman of Hertford Town Council’s Development & Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: “The Volunteer Fair will be a great opportunity for people to find out what is going on in our area that they could get involved in. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, to get involved in something new, and to make a difference to the lives of others and the local community.”
