To play ping pong, visitors should collect the bat and ball from Hertford Library reception area and put down a deposit of £5 which will be refunded on their return.
Depending on the popularity of the street table tennis in this location, additional ping pong tables may be purchased and located within the town centre.
Chairman of Hertford Town Council’s Development and Leisure Committee, Cllr Jane Sartin, said: “Hertford Town Council is always looking for new activities to encourage people to shop and eat out in Hertford town centre, and street table tennis will hopefully prove popular with local residents and visitors to our town. It’s great to have the support of Hertford Library, which is enabling this activity to happen.”
