TOWN COUNCIL ANNOUNCES AWARD OF GRANT TO HERTFORD ARTS HUB
Hertford Town Council announces the award of a grant of £20 000 to Hertford Arts Hub.
The Town Council is very pleased to continue its support of the Hertford Arts Hub that started in 2015 with a grant from the Council (of £10 000) for the feasibility study of establishing an arts hub in the town.
Hertford Arts Hub was inspired by the life and work of Alan Davie one of the UK’s most influential and creative artists. Alan Davie lived and worked in Hertford for 50 years and is collected by The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice; National Galleries Scotland, Edinburgh; The Museum of Modern Art, New York and Tate, London.
The mission of a hub is to support existing organisations and also provide new opportunities for engagement with the arts for education enjoyment and inspiration.
Hertford Town Council has granted the £20 000 funding from its New Homes Bonus reserve that the Council is using to invest in projects and initiatives to benefit residents, businesses and visitors to the town. The decision to make this grant was taken at a meeting of the Council’s Finance Policy and Administration Committee on 11th March 2019 with the Committee unanimously supporting the grant award. The funds will be used to support the programme of activities of the Hertford Arts Hub.
Cllr Bob Deering, Chair of the Council’s Finance Committee says ‘The Hertford Arts Hub has made excellent progress in the past two years. This grant award will help the Hertford Arts Hub continue their work in establishing a vibrant Arts Hub that will be fitting tor the county town.”
